now he was a lookin
for a big ol fruit bowl
cuz this place sposed to have
a BIG Apple he wuz told

he wuz geetin' kinda thirsty
he stoped at a saloon
he couldn't believe his eyes
when he walked in the room

the band waz a playin
a hillbilly song
they sed welcome billyjoe bob
com'on and sing along

well he wuz a singin'
and drinkin that there beer
boy he wuz glad he come
in here

and when it wuz time to leave
that honky tonky bar
he looked there at the stutue
she wuz holdin a geetar

he sez this nu york city
is a place thats real fine
hes gonna bring carlyn
the next time

cuz he relly liked it
and hes gonna go agin
cuz he aint woryed
